Legacy gifts, also known as planned giving, allow us to put our assets to work in perpetuity, and to support the causes we are passionate about even as we embark upon our spiritual journeys.
Redbird is able to accept gifts of cash, real property (developed or undeveloped land), collections, bequests and managed disbursements. We are not presently aligned with a stock brokerage, which is necessary in order to receive publicly traded assets. You will find a pdf document to fill out and present to your financial manager here.
Your gift will be used as you intend and declare. We rely upon the generosity and dedication of our supporters to provide services, cultural programs, address environmental issues and promote sustainable life ways. Redbird has a wide variety of program areas. For your convenience,
they are summarized below.
Native American/Indigenous Culture
Redbird's Children of Many Colors Intertribal Powwow, in its 21st year in 2023
Redbird's Blanket Drive and Mini Powwow, in its 28th year in 2023
Environment
The Forest Recovery Project, documenting the ever changing landscape of the Angeles National Forest as it responds to fire, tourism, climate change and changing environmental policies
Programs at Chilao School aimed at increasing our awareness of our home planet
Chilao School
Our land base in the Angeles National Forest, where we host a variety of programs in the arts,
healing arts, culture, environment and life skills
Retreats - the school is available to non profit organizations and clubs on a donation basis
Escape Program - Artist Residence program offering one to two week
opportunities to reside in the forest
Access Program - Use of property use for independent film, language arts,
cultural presentations, women and minority business support
Highway 2 Motorcycle Track Days
This program addresses the extreme rate of accidents and fatalities experienced in the Angeles National Forest by offering a day of skill building, with instruction and mentoring, to help people learn how to ride, how to navigate corners, and to develop the muscle memory that could save their lives.
Redbird Ranch - Elder Housing
Since 2008 we have dreamed of creating a supportive housing environment for elders in their end of life stages. That vision and our commitment to it remains strong and we hope it will not be long before we can take the first steps toward making this a reality with our first full care residence.
Highway 2 - The Art Show
A multi-media, multi-artist exhibition begun in 2014, the Highway 2 Art Show embraces both new and established artists, offering newcomers to the "art world" the opportunity to show their work in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The show has been held in galleries in Burbank, Montrose, La Crescenta, Tujunga, Santa Clarita and La Canada Flintridge. We are hoping to hold a show at Mount Wilson Observatory in 2023. A portion of the work is on permanent display at Chilao School.
When you look back at this beautiful blue planet from wherever your soul's journey takes you, you will know that your legacy here lives on in acts of kindness and cultural resilience.
